Former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin has
come to the defense of her daughter's use of homophobic slurs.
Sixteen-year-old Willow Palin attacked
a former classmate, named Tre, on Facebook for criticizing her
mother's reality show.
“Sarah Palin's Alaska, is
failing so hard right now,” Tre wrote on Facebook during the
premiere of the reality series. Which prompted Willow to respond
“Haha your so gay” and “Your such a faggot.”
Willow and her sister, Bristol, offered
a halfhearted apology, saying that they shouldn't have reacted to
negative comments.
Appearing on Fox News, Sarah
told Sean Hannity that the media uproar that followed was unfair.
In answering a question about her
greatest frustration, she veered off to talk about what “people
probably think is my greatest frustration.” Which is the “lies
that are told in the tabloids and on hateful blogs full of anonymous
sources about my family.”
“I mean, look at the other day.
Willow, finally, my 16 year old, she had had it up to here with
somebody saying very, very hateful things about the family and saying
mean things about her little brother Trig, and Willow finally
responded and she used a bad word when she responded in defense of
her family. And her response became national news, even hard news
copy it turned into, so that’s ridiculous and I had to explain to
her, 'Willow, there is no justice here but you have to just zip your
lip and let’s move forward,'” she said.
Gay
GOP group GOProud has also come to the defense of Willow.
The politician turned conservative
celebrity has previously criticized the use of racist and
anti-disability comments.
