Presidential hopeful and Minnesota
Representative Michele Bachmann in 2004 warned that the legalization
of gay marriage in Massachusetts would lead to polygamy and “things
much worse” in Minnesota.

Bachmann, have recently made headlines with their anti-gay views.
They've
both endorsed “pray away the gay” therapy.
And in 2004, then-Minnesota State
Senator Michele Bachmann sponsored a constitutional amendment to ban
gay marriage. Her measure didn't clear the Minnesota Legislature,
but
she recently praised lawmakers who approved a similar amendment this
session.
In a video message in support of her
proposed amendment, Bachmann warned that Minnesota gay rights
activists would marry in Massachusetts and demand that their
marriages be recognized by their home state.
“And at that point, an activist judge
could very well rule in their favor and then strike down Minnesota's
current defense of marriage law. If we allow this to happen, group
marriage, polygamy and things much worse may not be far behind here
in Minnesota,” Bachmann said.
“Without this amendment, Minnesota
could have gay marriage imposed on us in 2004.”
