Pop singing teen Miley Cyrus on
Wednesday tweeted more support for gay marriage.
“You know the world is skewed when
people get away with murdering children but we cant get gay marriage
legalized in the state of California,” she said in a message to her
more than 1.5 million followers, a clear reference to Casey Anthony's
not guilty verdict.
The 18-year-old Hannah Montana
star earlier chided GOP presidential hopeful Rick Santorum's
opposition to marriage equality.
(Related: Rick
Santorum also opposes civil unions.)
Referring to Santorum's 2003 remarks in
which he likened gay unions to “man on dog,” Cyrus messaged that
Urban Outfitters had donated to Santorum's previous campaigns. “'IF
WE ALLOW GAY MARRIAGE NEXT THING U KNOW PEOPLE WILL BE MARRYING GOLD
FISH' – Rick Santorum UO contributed $13,000 to this mans
campaign.”
When messaged back, “@MileyCyrus what
happened to that Christian girl from TN with descent moral values and
a lot of heart?” the teen pop sensation responded, “what an
ignorant statement. I don't have 'alot of heart' cuz im not gonna be
a closed minded hypocrite? LOVE IS LOVE. GOD IS LOVE.”
Santorum, however, paid no mind,
feigning concern over Cyrus' opinion on the Chris Stigall Show:
"When she came out against me, we actually had a family meeting
and decided whether I can continue on in this process and, you know,
we had to talk to the kids and it was difficult. But we’re
actually holding out -- we still think we might get Lindsay Lohan.
And with that, you know, we can continue. We’re waiting."
