Appearing last week on Larry King Now, actor William H. Macy said that his wife Felicity Huffman should have received an Oscar for her portrayal of a transgender woman in the 2005 film Transamerica.
“Was Transamerica ahead of its time?” host Larry King asked.
“Yes,” Macy answered. “And it was so important to so many people. And I think she would have won an Academy Award. She was nominated for it. But I don't think people in the Academy watched it.”
“I think if they had seen it, they would have given her an Oscar.”
Macy added: “I've never seen anything like it. I've known that broad for a long, long time. And I saw that movie and I thought, 'Where did this come from? Who are you? Where did you find this?'”
Huffman did win a Golden Globe for her performance.
