Kingdom returns for its sophomore season Wednesday on DirecTV.

The show's first season ended with the revelation that MMA fighter Nate Kulina (played by Nick Jonas) is gay.

During an Outfest panel last year, series creator Byron Blasco was asked whether Nate will have full-on gay sex scenes in the show's second season.

“A man has needs,” Blasco responded. “It's a deep internal struggle and it's very difficult for this character.”

Jonas added that he's committed to the character.

“He's not really okay with what's happening at the moment … it's going to go there, I'm sure,” he said.

“It's an incredibly important story on all levels – acceptance isn't the first word in this [fighting] world. I'm willing to go on the journey wherever it takes me. I'm committed,” he added.
