Freddie Smith returned this week to
NBC's daytime drama Days of Our Lives.
Smith's gay character, Sonny Kiriakis,
first appeared on Tuesday's episode.
Sonny left Salem after the murder of
his husband Will Horton (played by Guy Wilson).
In an interview with gay glossy Out,
Smith said that he did not expect his character to rekindle a
relationship with Paul Narita (Christopher Sean).
“After losing the part of him that he
loved the most, I think that definitely leaves a dark spot in his
heart and he's going to be coping with that and dealing with that,”
Smith
said.
“I definitely think there's always
going to be chemistry and a blossoming friendship,” he said. “Who
knows what will happen?”
Sean said that he believes that Sonny
and Paul have not been in contact while Sonny ran Uncle Vic's club in
Paris.
“Sonny needed that space. Paul
understood that and as much as he missed him and not being able to be
there for him, there's still that underlying respect,” Sean said,
then added that he thinks Paul is hoping for a reunion.
