A federal worker in Illinois is
refusing to watch an LGBT diversity video because he believes that
homosexuality is a sin.
David Hall, 42, works as an area
systems coordinator at the Champaign office of the Social Security
Administration (SSA) and is a 14-year veteran of the agency.
Workers were first told to watch the
17-minute video in late April. After ignoring direct orders on
separate occasions to watch the video, Hall was suspended two days
without pay last month.
Hall told the Champaign
News-Gazette that he is “not anti-anyone or anything”
but “for God, for Jesus.”
“This is something I want to fight
and expose,” Hall
told the paper. “To give other Christians the courage of their
convictions.”
He added that other Christians who
agree with him are scared to speak out.
“Their fears are being realized
through me,” Hall said.
