An upcoming episode of the ABC comedy
Modern Family will feature an openly transgender child actor.
In Wednesday's episode, titled A
Stereotypical Day, gay couple Cameron (played by Eric
Stonestreet) and Mitchell (Jesse Tyler Ferguson) allow their daughter
Lily (Aubrey Anderson-Emmons) have a play-date with her friend Tom,
who is openly transgender.
Jackson Millarker, 8, plays Tom.
Director Ryan Case called Millarker
“wonderful” in an Instagram post.
“One of the many reasons I love being
a part of this show,” he captioned a photo of Millarker on set.
According
to Variety,
Millarker is the first transgender child to appear on a network prime
time series.
Florida teen Jazz Jennings, 15, is the
star of the TLC reality show I Am Jazz, which follows the
transgender teen.
