Out singer Brian Justin Crum will perform today at a Spirit Day event in New York City sponsored by the Kellogg Company.
Spirit Day supports efforts to combat the bullying of LGBT teens. Supporters are encouraged to wear purple today. Since its inception in 2010, GLAAD has played a prominent role in promoting Spirit Day.
“At Kellogg, we firmly believe in equality and inclusion in the workplace, marketplace and communities,” said Kellogg's Mark King. “We have long been allies and supporters of LGBTQ employees, their families and the community.”
Crum performed at a special Spirit Day breakfast at the Kellogg's NYC cafe in Times Square. On the menu is the “Official Spirit Day Bowl,” which features Frosted Flakes with fresh blueberries, lemon zest and blueberry jam that turns the milk purple.
Crum, a finalist on NBC's competition series America's Got Talent, also shared his personal story about how bullying affected his life.
Kellogg brands also tweeted their support.
“Today we're going purple to take a stand against bullying. Because every flavor is equally amazing,” Pop-Tarts messaged.
Tony the Tiger added: “I stand with @GLAAD because the best way to #LetYourGreatOut is to be yourself.”
