Cleveland Cavaliers players LeBron
James and J.R. Smith endorsed Hillary Clinton for president at a
rally Sunday in Cleveland.
James, a four-time NBA MVP, introduced
the Democratic candidate.
“The number one reason I'm here is
for Hillary and what she believes in,” James told the crowd.
James endorsed Clinton in a Business
Insider op-ed published last month.
“Only one person running truly
understands the struggles of an Akron child born into poverty,”
James wrote. “That candidate is Hillary Clinton.”
“I
support Hillary because she will build on the legacy of my good
friend, President Barack Obama,” he added.
Clinton received a string of celebrity
endorsements over the weekend, including from megastar music couple
Beyonce
and Jay Z and Katy Perry. Other stars who have endorsed her
include Cher, Madonna and comic Louis C.K.
