Actor James Wolk has said that he has
great chemistry with Adam Pally on the ABC sitcom Happy Endings.
The 26-year-old Wolk is guest starring
as a former boyfriend of Pally's Max, the show's non-stereotypical
gay character.
On Wednesday's episode, titled The
St. Valentine's Day Maxssacre, Max runs into ex-boyfriend Grant
(played by Wolk) on Valentine's Day.
“So Grant dumped you on Valentine's
Day.” Alex says to Max as he drives his limousine carrying Grant
and his date in the back seat behind a partition. “What did you
do?”
“Nothing, literally nothing,” Max
answers.
In a flashback, we see Grant surprising
Max with flowers and champagne on Valentine's Day.
Surrounded by bags of chips, beer
bottles and containers of take out food on the couch in his
apartment, Max feebly asks, “Were we supposed to hang out today?”
“I double booked; you and this
pizza,” he adds, pointing to a giant-sized pizza.
“So, you took Grant for granted,”
Alex says.
The run-in creates friction between
Grant and his date. Later he texts Max that he ruined a second
Valentine's Day for him. Alex sees this as a sign and encourages Max
to go to Grant.
“Come on, let's go get him, for
love,” Alex insists.
In the episode's final sequence, Grant
and Max are seen kissing in a horse-drawn carriage.
“Oh man, that is a handsome man!”
Wolk told gay entertainment website AfterElton.com.
“We had great chemistry. He's a great actor and a great guy and
really funny and it made the whole thing really easy. … We wanted
people to laugh, but we also wanted people to watch it and feel that
this is a genuine relationship between these two guys. That was an
important thing.”
Wolk will appear on two more episodes.
