Major League Baseball players Matt
Cain, Mat Latos and Yovani Gallardo and their families have posed for
the NOH8 Campaign, the silent protest which raises awareness and
funds for gay rights causes, including ending California's 2008
voter-approved gay marriage ban, Proposition 8.
The NOH8 Campaign is helmed by
photographer-activist Adam Bouska and his partner Jeff Parshley. The
pair photograph celebrities and everyday folks with their mouths duct
taped and the campaign's familiar “NOH8” slogan often written on
one cheek.
Cain, a pitcher for the San Francisco
Giants, posed
with his wife Chelsea, while Cincinnati Reds pitcher Latos
appeared with his wife Dallas. And Milwaukee Brewers pitcher
Gallardo
was joined by his wife Patricia and their son Yovani Jr.
Recent athletes who have joined the
NOH8 Campaign include NFL free agent C.J.
Gable, New England Patriots safety Bret
Lockett, NFL free ageint Nic
Harris, former MLB player Billy
Bean, former NFL player Esera
Tuaolo and Portland Timbers defender Mike
Chabala.
Bean and Tuaolo came out gay after
retiring.
