Singer k.d. lang has filed to dissolve
her California domestic partnership with Jamie Price, celebrity
website TMZ.com
first reported.
The women entered the union on November
11, 2009 after a six year engagement. Lang reportedly filed for a
dissolution of her partnership in Los Angeles Superior Court on
December 28, 2011 after a four month separation.
Lang cited irreconcilable differences
in her filing.
The couple met through their mutual
Buddhist teacher in 2003, according to New York magazine.
The 50-year-old Canadian pop and
country music singer-songwriter came out lesbian during a 1992
interview with gay glossy The Advocate. She went on to become
an advocate of gay rights, including HIV/AIDS awareness and funding.
There is a brief mention of Price in a
2008 The Sunday Times story.
“She is occasionally snapped eating
out at Mr. Chow in Beverly Hills, but when she isn't working, Lang is
mostly a homebody, living quietly with a girlfriend she refers to as
'my wife' – they're not legally married – and her two dogs,”
the paper wrote.
Lang also said that her
five-year-affair with actress-singer Leisha Hailey (The L Word)
was the inspiration behind the album Invincible Summer. “[W]e
had a joyous time high up there in terms of energy level, and I think
the album reflects that,” Lang said.
