Allegations that former Florida
Governor Charlie Crist is gay have resurfaced.
Crist, who lost his 2010 U.S. Senate
bid as an independent, is being accused of paying off two men to hide
his sexual orientation, 10
News reported.
The allegations come from Damon Chase,
a lawyer for Jim Greer. Greer is charged with paying himself to
raise money for the Republican Party of Florida. He has said that
Crist, as governor, approved the deal.
Chase told John Morgan of Morgan and
Morgan, Crist's employer, that if he had to depose Crist, details of
the cover up would surface. Chase alleges that Crist is gay and had
affairs with at least two men who were paid to leave the state.
Crist has denied the claims, calling
them “a bunch of delusional lies.” He added that the tactics
amount to either witness tampering or extortion.
Greer's trial opens July 30 and he has
vowed not to go down alone.
Rumors that Crist is gay have continued
even after he married Carole Rome in 2008. In 2009, Director Kirby
Dick suggested as much in his documentary Outrage.
