YouTube will celebrate Gay Pride month
with the largest LGBT marketing campaign in its 8-year history.
The Friday, June 28 event will include
the “taking over” of the YouTube Spotlight channel by Pride and
exclusively feature LGBT content.
The video sharing site will also target
more than 100 million followers through an extensive YouTube social
media campaign.
The centerpiece of the campaign will be
a 90-second “Pride Video” that will feature some of YouTube's
amazing LGBT-themed content.
The “Pride Video” will stitch
together content from up to 40 YouTube videos.
Parent company Google is also
celebrating Pride by surrounding its otherwise spartan search box
with colorful rainbow colors. The rainbow only appears when users
search for gay-related topics.
The decision to add the support only
within gay-related searches has in previous years prompted some to
say that Google remains in the closet.
