Tituss Burgess, who played D'Fwan on 30
Rock for two seasons, will play gay in the upcoming NBC comedy
Tooken.
According to Deadline,
Tina Fey and Robert Carlock, who have previously worked on 30 Rock
and Saturday Night Live, are behind the upcoming 13-episode
comedy expected to premiere in the fall.
The half-hour sitcom stars Ellie Kemper
(The Office) as Kimmy, who is starting her life over in New
York City after escaping a doomsday cult.
Burgess, who is openly gay, will play
“a gay, larger-than-life, genuinely talented singer who has never
made it to Broadway and lives hand-to-mouth, working as a robot in Times
Square,” Deadline reported.
On 30 Rock, Burgess, a Broadway
actor, played the flamboyant D'Fwan, a member of Angie Jordan's
(played by Sherri Shepherd) entourage.
