Linda Perry, former vocalist and
guitarist of 4 Non Blondes, claims David Letterman producers asked
her to replace a guitar with a “dyke” sticker
Appearing on Larry King Now,
host Larry King asked Perry if she had always been out about her
sexuality.
“Yes, I've always been out,” Perry
answered.
Perry explained that during rehearsal
for an appearance on David Letterman with 4 Non Blondes, producers
asked her whether she would be willing to trade in her guitar.
Perry explained that she said 'no'
because she was not trying to make a statement. She went on the show
thinking she and her guitar would not appear on television screens.
“Well, sure enough, the show starts
right on my guitar. It goes right on. I mean close up on the
guitar, right over 'choice,' right over 'dyke,' right up to my face
and there's the show.”
“They were used to pushing for what
they want and when I said 'no,' it wasn't a big deal,” she added.
“And that basically sums up life.” (The video is embedded on
