Pennsylvania state Rep. Brian Sims will
hold a “Beer and Bears” campaign fundraiser during Provincetown's
Bear Week, which kicks off Saturday.
Sims will appear at two back-to-back
events on Tuesday, July 15.
A $250 per person cocktail reception
will be held from 1-2 PM at the Sage Inn & Lounge, followed by a
$50 per person “Afternoon of Beer & Bears.” Tickets
can be purchased here.
Sims, a Democrat, is the Pennsylvania
Legislature's first openly gay elected member, though Rep. Mike
Fleck, a Republican first elected to the House in 2006, came out in
2012, making him the state's first openly gay lawmaker.

Sims says he struggled to come out gay.)
Other openly gay politicians have
campaigned during Bear Week, most notably New York Rep. Daniel
O'Donnell, who self-identifies as a bear.
