Jonathan Knight of New Kids on the
Block and partner Harley Rodriguez will compete in the 26th
season of the CBS reality show The Amazing Race.
Knight, who publicly came out gay in
2011, and Rodriguez have been together since 2008.
“Going through this whole process
with him has been really surreal,” Knight, 46, said in a
promo for the show.
Rodriguez, 41, added: “Putting our
lives out there for people to know about us – it's not usually what
we do.”
Season 21 of the show, which typically
pits eleven teams of two in a race around the world for a $1 million
prize, was won by engaged couple Josh Kilmer-Purcell and Brent Ridge,
who have since married.
Season 26, which premieres Wednesday,
February 25, is made up of eleven dating couples, five of whom are
meeting for the first time.
Bergen and Kurt are the only gay couple
racing around the world on a blind date.
“I think a lot of people
underestimate the gay guy, but you don't want to do that, 'cause I
have the testosterone of a man with the wrath of a woman,” Kurt
said.
