Dave Franco's character of Pete comes
out gay in the upcoming sequel to 2014's Neighbors.
“I was so excited,” Franco told
Yahoo!
News.
“Even though I’m not on screen for
a significant amount of time, hopefully it will be very memorable,”
Franco said. “And of course I was excited to try something new
with the character while still maintaining his essence.”
In Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising,
Pete is in a relationship with a man, played by 30 Rock alum
John Early, and is about to get married.
In the first film, Pete had a bromance
with best bud Teddy (played by Zac Efron). Director Nicholas Stoller
said that making the character gay seemed like a natural decision.
“It was kind of all of us coming to
the same conclusion,” he said.
