During a concert last week in Berlin,
Sir Paul McCartney gave a moving tribute to the victims of a mass
shooting at a gay nightclub in Orlando.
Forty-nine people died and dozens were
injured when a lone gunman opened fire in the Pulse nightclub.
“We stand together with Orlando!”
McCartney shouted in German while holding a rainbow flag.
McCartney draped the flag over his
shoulder.
The 73-year-old went on to sing the
1965 Beatles classic Yesterday, which he wrote.
Other artists such as Queen
+ Adam Lambert have made similar tributes, while some singers –
including Melissa
Etheridge, Eli Lieb and Christina
Aguilera – have written new music to help raise awareness and
funds for the families of the victims.
