Premium cable network HBO on Monday
released the trailer for its upcoming feature-length film to end its
gay drama series Looking.
Looking, which ran for two
seasons on HBO, revolves around the lives of three gay men living in
San Francisco. Patrick (played by Jonathan Groff) came to the city
to find love; Dom (Murray Barlett) is a middle-aged waiter looking to
fulfill his father's dream of owning a successful restaurant; and
Agustin (Frankie J. Alvarez) struggles with his art and
relationships.
In canceling the series, HBO promised a
special to tie up loose ends.
In Looking: The Movie, Patrick,
who now lives in Colorado, returns to San Francisco for a wedding,
possibly the union of Agustin and Eddie (Daniel Franzese).
“I went away to Colorado and
everything was out of sight and out mind. And now I'm back and then
there it all is. Everything I thought I dealt with,” Patrick tells
Dom, a reference to Kevin (Russell Tovey) and Richie (Raul Castillo),
the loves he was torn between as season two ended.
“Sometimes you gotta leave things
behind so you can move forward,” Richie tells Patrick on the dance
floor.
The final chapter of Looking
airs on HBO July 23.
