Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau
on Sunday marched in Montreal's annual LGBT Pride parade.
“I am
proud to be the first prime minister to participate in the #FierteMTL
parade,” Trudeau tweeted in French using the parade's hashtag.
Thousands of people lined the parade
route to greet Trudeau.
This is Trudeau's third such appearance
of the summer. He also joined parades in Toronto and Vancouver.
Two girls marched in the parade holding
a banner with the names of the 49 people who died in a mass shooting
at a gay nightclub in Orlando in June.

Trudeau has said that his government
will focus this year on transgender rights. A bill unveiled in May
would prohibit discrimination based on gender identity.
