According to a poll released Friday, 20
percent of LGBT voters say they'll vote for Donald Trump in November.
Pollsters
at NBC News / Survey Monkey found that a large majority of
registered LGBT voters support Hillary Clinton.
Seventy-two percent of respondents said
that they favor Clinton, compared to 20 percent who support Trump.
When Libertarian Gary Johnson and Green
Party candidate Jill Stein are included, Clinton's support dropped to
63 percent, while Trump's fell to 15 percent. Johnson and Stein
received 15 percent and 8 percent, respectively.
In recent months, Trump has campaigned
for the LGBT vote, touting himself as a “better friend” to the
LGBT community than Clinton, his Democratic rival. But his continued
opposition
to same-sex marriage, support
for North Carolina's controversial anti-LGBT law and decision to
pick Indiana
Governor Mike Pence as his running-mate are seen to run counter
to his claims.
