Actress-singer Anna Kendrick told gay
glossy The Advocate in a recent interview that all of her best
friends are gay.
The 31-year-old Kendrick is promoting
Trolls, the animated musical comedy which opens on Friday.
The film is based on the troll dolls by Thomas Dam and also stars the
voices of Justin Timberlake, Zooey Deschanel, Russell Brand, James
Corden and Gwen Stefani.
The Pitch Perfect star also has
a new memoir, Scrappy Little Nobody, which arrives November
15.
“In response to a fan who believed he
could become your bestie, you once tweeted, 'If you are a gay dude,
that shit is probably true,'” The Advocate said.
“I don't even notice it,” Kendrick
responded, “but then I'll think about my 10 closest friends
right now, male and female, and honestly, they're all gay. Gay
people have just always been in my life. I remember my parents
having to tell me as a kid that there were people, like some people
in our church, who objected to homosexuality. I was like, 'Wait, so
they're idiots, right?'”
She added that she's been aware of her
LGBT fans since she started on Broadway at age 12.
