Police in the Florida city of Miami
Beach on Wednesday arrested a man who had posted threats against the
LGBT-inclusive church that helped him.
Joseph Jorczak was arrested following
an incident at his apartment when police arrived to question him
about threats he had posted on Facebook against the Miami Beach
Community Church.
“The Miami Beach Community church is
filled with a bunch of sick homosexuals,” Jorczak wrote, according
local NBC
affiliate WTVJ.
“Orlando will look small to what is
coming to Miami Beach, specifically the Miami Beach Community
Church,” he said, a reference to the Orlando massacre at a gay
nightclub that left 49 people dead and wounded dozens more.
The welcoming church had helped
Jorczak, giving him food and driving him to the hospital when he got
sick. Jorczak also marched with church members in the city's LGBT
Pride parade.
“[Y]ou cannot trust the LGBT
community,” he also wrote.
The Rev. Harold Thompson posted on
Facebook a prayer for Jorczak: “Joseph is in pain. He is hurt and
afraid. He is not rational. Sadly, he has focused his anger and
frustration onto the church. His words of hate towards our LGBT
members are disturbing and unsettling. I pray his words have no
power.”
