Openly gay rugby star Gareth Thomas has
announced he's been invited to attend Prince William's royal wedding.
Prince William and Kate Middleton will
tie the knot on April 29.
“Need to buy a new hat?” Thomas
tweeted to his nearly 18,000 followers on Friday. “Oops did I say
that out loud. Yes I have had an invite to the royal wedding. Have
you?”
Fellow rugby player Mark Bryant
messaged back: “Bullshit??!!”
“No bullshit girlfriend..Will bring
the proof tom,” Thomas replied.
“Sweet, I'll be your date then!!
Hahaha,” Bryant wrote.
The next day, Bryant followed up with
another tweet: “Has seen the invite and can confirm @gareththomas14
is invited to the royal wedding. He has already starting looking 4 a
suit at Debanhams!”
Thomas, 36, will be among the 1,900
guests of the Queen. Also invited are David and Victoria Beckham,
and singers Elton John and Kanye West.
The 6-foot-3 Thomas came out gay in
2009. He recently appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, where
he told his host that he once “prayed to be straight.”
