Fashion designer Marc Jacobs has
designed a t-shirt to raise awareness and funds for legalizing gay
marriage.
Jacobs' t-shirt features a lesbian
couple and their child and the words, “I pay my taxes, I want my
RIGHTS!” on the front, and “Marc Jacobs Proudly Supports Human
Rights Campaign” on the back.
The t-shirt, designed exclusively for
the Human Rights Campaign (HRC), the nation's largest gay rights
advocate, is available online at the HRC shop (www.shop.hrc.org)
and HRC retail outlets in Provincetown, Palm Springs, San Francisco,
and Washington D.C.
Also available at the HRC shops is Los
Angeles-based designers Alex & Chloe's Proud Collection, which
was introduced last October to celebrate National Coming Out Day.
The collection includes a custom dyed t-shirt which features eight
screen printed activist buttons – “Gay is great” reads one
button, while another raves “I heart HTC” – and retails for
$35. A laser-cut black acrylic “equal sign” pendant hanging from
an antique brass extender chain retails for $55. A Kenneth
Cole-designed t-shirt which features Uncle Sam with the caption “I
WANT YOU … YOU'RE SO REPEALING (DON'T ASK, DON'T TELL)” is also
for sale.
