Designer Michael Kors has confirmed
he's marrying longtime boyfriend Lance LePere.
Celebrity tabloid Life & Style
first noted that the pair were spotted in New York City on Wednesday
applying for a marriage license.
“They were both very casually
dressed,” an eyewitness told the glossy. “He was really nice and
let the girls at the office take his picture.”
The 51-year-old Kors on Thursday
confirmed that the couple was getting hitched.
“Lance and I are very excited to
finally be able to have the opportunity to marry in our home state
after many years together,” he
told
Us Magazine.
“We have no plans for a major party,”
he added. “But we will be getting married privately.”
Kors, who can also be seen judging on
cabler Bravo's fashion reality series Project Runway, and
LePere met in 1990, when LePere joined Kors' design firm in Paris as
an intern. He's now the firm's creative director.
On Thursday, designer Brian Atwood
tweeted to his more than 26,000 followers “Just engaged,” along
with a photo of himself and his husband to be, Dr. Jake Deutsch.
Last month, New York became the sixth
state to legalize gay marriage.
